
Pencil and Paper
Kids love to create, so why not give them some paper and a pencil and let them draw. If they are stuck for ideas why not get them to draw the other people in the car or things they have seen out the window. What about getting them to make there own map for the journey with a pictures of places you have been through?

Travel Games
Children love board games, and for as little as a pound you can buy a 4-in-1 magnetised travel game for kids to enjoy. Nearly all the favourite board games are available in travel form including Chess, Drafts, Ludo, Monopoly, Guess Who and Connect 4. Some travel games you can get include up to ten games in one pack and with a magnetised board so you don't have to worry about the game being ruined by a sharp turn in the car.
Travel Tip: Not every child can read in a car without getting travel sick, so make sure you take some travel sickness medication with you if car sickness is a danger.
Gameboys
You can pick these up second hand for around £20 with games starting available from as cheap as £5. For those that don't know, these are hand held games consoles that have provided kids and adults alike with enterainment since there first release in 1989. There has been a lot of improvements since then and there is a great selection of games that could easily keep kids happy for the bulk, if not the whole of a journey!
Portable DVD Player
Available for under £100 now new, these portable DVD players come with a screen and speakers built in that make it ideal for watching films in the car. Kids will love being able to watch their favourite films which will give you a chance to relax without the worry of them arguing or getting restless!
